Study will clarify presence of PD

According to the Cooperativa radio, the widespread presence of this infectious disease in the Norwegian salmon industry lead the Chilean authorities to apply an exhaustive study to either confirm or discard its presence in the local salmon industry.

"Sernapesca is checking if Chile is free of pancreatitis, something that will be clarified within two weeks. If so, we will limit the eggs entrance from countries that already have this disease" explained the chairman of the Salmon Working Table Felipe Sandoval.

Although he said that the preliminary results of the analysis haven't showed signs of the disease, Sandoval warned that a prospective entrance of PD represents an outsize risk.
