Figures from the Norwegian Seafood Export Council shows an increase of 38 000 tons (10%) the first seven months this year compared with the same period last year. In July the increase was 15%.

The strongest demand came from countries like Poland, Germany, Denmark and France. The major reason for this is the reduced import from Chile.

The industry are expecting the high prices to continue. In July the price of fresh salmon was 36,73 NOK/kg. An increase of 1,44 NOK/kg from the previous month, and as much as 8 NOK/kg higher than the same periode last year.

Filets are becoming more and more important. In July 2009 the amount of fresh and frozen filets was 7 700 tons, twice as much as in July 2008. The share of filets are now 16% of the total export volume.
