Strike ends in Chile
The news follows a three-hour meeting between the Deputy Finance Minister, Alejandro Micco, and representatives of the National Association of Customs Officers (ANFACH).
The agreement provides for an increase in staffing for the customs service, which will increase from 1,600 employees to 2,300 by 2018.
"This is a landmark agreement for our organization and for the Chilean labour and union movement,” the president of the ANFACH, Marcelo Reyes told La Tercera.
In addition, the organization apologized "to users, transporters, customs people etc. that were affected. They understand that this too will benefit from better service, we hope, in the short term."
