Skretting’s conference session on Faroese experience
The Faroese expert, Debes H. Christiansen, is going to present some results from his experience with ISA, its different strains and HPR0 in particular, in connection with the large number of suspect sites of ISA virus currently in Chile. ISA virus has been in the Faroe Islands for eight years, while the Faroese salmon producers have faced this non-virulent strain since 2006.
Christiansen is head of the National Reference Laboratory for Fish and Animal Diseases at the Faroese Food and Veterinary Agency.
This is the third annual conference on freshwater salmon farming organized by Skretting and the slogan for this version is “Consolidando las Bases” (Consolidating the bases). The conference is going to be held on the Puyehue Hotel, located around 180km northwest from Puerto Montt, between 7-9 September, 2011.
