Skretting invites to global traceability network

Published Modified

Skretting has been co-operating with Trace Tracker Innovation, who have developed a new, electronic tracing and tracking highway for the entire seafood value chain. Skretting now wants other companies in the industry to join the network. Hans Abrahamsen, Managing Director in Skretting said: ”We have registered our tracing and tracking data in Global Traceability Network (GTNet®) and invite the whole seafood industry to do the same. The new system will be presented at a seminar in the North Atlantic Seafood Forum this Wednesday.” Electronic provenance Having the tracing and tracking data on GTNet® will give seafood an electronic provenance that documents every stage of production, processing and distribution from ova and feed raw ingredient to the shop shelves. The consumer can trace the product to anyone that has had anything to do with it in the whole value chain. This includes feed and raw ingredients, fry, adult fish, transport, harvesting, processing. Existing user data Abrahamsen said that the ingenious thing about the new traceability network is that it is not just another documentation system the user must install. GTNet® links together existing tracing and tracking systems. Skretting has had an internal electronic tracing and tracking system, NuTrace, for many years. GTNet® facilitates that information here is available in a wider context. This is what Skretting would like the entire seafood industry to join. Abrahamsen said that, among other things, the network can serve as documentation of sustainability and environmental responsibility. Anyone who so wishes can use GTNet® to scrutinize the industry and check the provenance of the raw materials, levels of undesirable substances, use of medicines, omega-3 level and much more. Non-profit co-operation Skretting has no ownership interests in GTNet® and shall not profit from the system. TraceTracker Innovation, which is a Norwegian company that develops tracing and tracking systems, has developed the system that links the traceability information electronically. TraceTracker Innovation is also the organizer of the seminar at North Atlantic Seafood Forum in co-operation with the Norwegian state traceability project ”eSporing”. GTNet®
