Skretting increases capacity in Norway
Continuing its investment program in Norway, Skretting puts 24 million Euro in a heavy upgrade of the Averøy feed plant in Midwest Norway, extending the plant’s capacity to 240,000 tons. Construction activity has already started with a planned opening in early June 2008. The Averøy upgrade is the first in a stepwise expansion where step 2 and 3 will give a further 100,000 tons of capacity. Step 2 and 3 may be set about on short notice to meet market demands. The investment in the Averøy plant follows the upgrading of Skretting’s fish feed plant in Stavanger earlier this year. Skretting Norway, with three production plants in total, will cross the 500,000 tons annual production by June next year. At the Averøy plant the investment is a fundamental upgrade. Extended storage capacity for raw materials makes production more flexible, modernized production technology opens new feed development possibilities, new warehouse and improved port facilities make logistics more effective. The plant also gets a smell reduction system based on the best technology available.
