Senator insists on better pay for salmon workers
Senator Adolfo Zaldivar, member of the Christian Democracy Party, representative of the region of Aysén, member of the National Defense Commission and Commission of Maritime, Fishing and Aquaculture Interests of the National Senate, announced recently in the regional newspaper of Aysén (El Divisadero) that the precise moment has arrived. The politically and economically viable moment for the salmon industry to demonstrate its ability to share in the positive results gained from the efforts of those men and women who dedicate themselves to the processing and operations sector of the industry. The senator indicated that the salmon sector is proud to be one of the most dynamic within the national economy and a world leader. And therefore, it is perfectly able to share its earnings with its workforce. “The salmon industry must take advantage of this moment to demonstrate that it is possible to maintain success, economic growth and leadership on a worldwide level, and at the same time improve the salaries of the men and women who are the most prized resource in this activity,” Adolfo Saldivar, Senator of the Republic of Chile.
