Seminar addressed challenges in freshwater
The speakers in this seminar -Juan Battaglia, Alejandro Rojas, Óscar Goicochea and Braulio Luengo- addressed topics such as the control and treatment of Flavobacteriosis; detection of prevalent pathogens (BKD, IPN and ISAv) in freshwater facilities, physiologic considerations within broodstock handlings; and operation of silage systems for mortalities.
Among other issues, most of the speakers referred to those modifications to the Chilean sanitary and environmental regulations which have special impact in freshwater, for example: the voluntary measure which will demand –starting in January 2014– that all eggs be produced in land-based facilities for their whole life-cycle and the tight supply of roe last year, due to more stringent requirements for roe importation.
This activity was organized by the local pharmaceutical laboratory Veterquímica and held in the Pucón Grand Hotel last Friday.
