
Sealand to invest US$ 28 million in new freshwater facility
This smolt farm will operate with a recirculating water system and it is going to be build in the surroundings of Pargua, nearby Puerto Montt.
The project is intended to be build in two major stages. In the first one, this freshwater facility is expected to produce around 7.2 million smolts of 100grs each. Meanwhile, in the second stage and by the fifth year of operation, this smolt farm should be producing about 14.4 million fish of 100grs.
According to the information provided by the company to the Environmental Impact Assessment System (SEIA), Sealand Aquaculture expects to start building this facility in the very first days of September 2013.
