The Norwegian salmon industry has experienced the strongest demand ever. The total salmon export in September this year landed at 75 000 tons compared to 59 000 tons September 2008. So far this year the total salmon export is 573 000 tons at a value of 16,7 billion NOK. The salmon share is more than half of the total seafood export from Norway.

- One of major reasons for the strong demand in September are the US market for salmon filets. By September the total value of the salmon export to the US was 1 billion NOK. Four times as high as September 2008, says Egil Ove Sundheim, director for market information at the Norwegian Seafood Export Council.
