Scottish salmon named in "top 10" trade agreement between Europe and China
The move was confirmed by Chinese authorities during a trade mission led by European Agriculture Commissioner Dacian Ciolos.
The granting by China of the special status to ten European food products already benefiting from Protected Food Name status is to be matched by Europe conferring similar legal protection for ten Chinese foods.
Scott Landsburgh, Chief Executive of Scottish Salmon Producers' Organisation, said: “This is great news as it is further recognition of the quality of Scottish farmed salmon. “The unique agreement will help to develop an exciting, new market with a significant number of discerning customers. “Scottish farmed salmon continues to be in high demand at home and overseas, which is great news for the Scottish economy.”
