
Salmonids harvest decreased 63% as of April
A comparison of results itemized by specie shows a 72.9% decrease in Atlantic salmon harvests from 109,360 to 29,637 tonnes; a 39.1% drop in Rainbow trout harvests to 40,908 tonnes and a 73.4% decrease in Coho salmon harvests down to 13,154 tonnes.
Local roe production totalized 194.3 million units as of April conformed by 70.9 million eggs of Atlantic salmon; 66.5 million eggs of Rainbow trout; and 56.9 million eggs of Coho salmon. Meanwhile, roe imports totalized 59.7 million, separated in 32.7% of Atlantic salmon eggs and 67.3% of Rainbow trout eggs.
