Salmones Itata to invest USD 18 million in new hatchery
This new facility will require an investment of USD 18 million and it is expected to produce 6.5 million smolts until its fifth year of operation, when it could produce 13 million smolts.
According to the local newspaper El Llanquihue, Salmones Itata plans building this hatchery in the Huenquillahue bay, nearby Puerto Montt. Meanwhile, the future smolt production of this facility will supply the farming sites of the company in the 11th Region.
Among other technical characteristics, this hatchery will use a recirculating water system with a 98% reuse of the water intake.
