Salmon site could be wiped out

According to a release from the company this morning, between 550 and 700 tonnes of salmon died as a result of algea blooming. Which species of algea is not yet confirmed. The loss is estimated to around 20 million NOK.

"What makes the case special is the tremendous mortality that came so suddenly. It started almost instantly on Wednesday morning. I have not had time to be out on the plant, but it sounds like almost all the salmon on site have died," veterinarian Elisabeth Myklebust from Fiskehelseveterinærene said to NRK Nordland Friday last week.
