Salmon price hike overplayed?

Gaard, who conducted a survey of price predictions, shows that very few analysts believe that salmon prices will be lower than 39 NOK/kg in 2015, while the most optimistic estimates envisage prices over 43 NOK/kg next year.

"Taking into account that Kontali analysis predicts a low supply growth of only one per cent in Norway in 2015, it appears that there may be a new year with high prices. The supply situation in Chile also supports this assumption," Gaard says.

Norway's Fisheries Minister also announced that there will be minimal growth, if any at all, in the MTB limit. Thus, it appears that any growth in Norway has to come from a more efficient production.
