Salmon is the main export product in Aysén
According to a recent report published by the Export Promotion Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (ProChile), salmonids are included in the ‘fisheries’ category which totalized exports for US$ 88.4 million in Aysén as of March 2011. Meanwhile, the mining industry exported US$ 10.3 million from that region; and the agricultural sector exported US$ 1.1 million in 1Q 2011.
As a consequence of this leadership, 5 out of the 10 biggest exporter companies in the region of Aysén are salmon producing companies: Acuinova Chile (US$ 39.6 million); Salmones FrioSur (US$ 24.2 million); Salmones Ice Val (US$ 9.7 million); Salmones Cupquelán (US$ 5.0 million); and Salmones Itata (US$ 1.9 million).
The region of Aysén totalized exports for US$ 99.9 million in the period.
