Salmon harvests down 31.8%

Comparison of results itemized by specie shows a drop of 44.2% in Atlantic salmon harvests to 150,101 tonnes, a 16.2% decrease in Rainbow trout harvests to 91,197 tonnes and a slight increase of 3.3% in Coho salmon harvests to 47,811 tonnes.

Roe production totalized 428.5 million eggs in the first nine months of 2009 and 38 million just during September, separated in 21.9 million of Atlantic salmon eggs and 16.1 million of Rainbow trout eggs. Meanwhile, roe imports summarized 114 million between January and September this year.
