Salmon farmers against the Government idea about concessions

The president of the Association of the Chilean Salmon Industry (SalmonChile), César Barros, said to El Mercurio that the authorities would not be respecting their initial proposal of delivering guarantees of Corfo to them, without conditions.

The bill, that is being analyzed in the Congress, establishes that any new concession will last 30 years, and its renovation will have to be requested eight years before expiring.

"I don't know how this would help to face the sanitary or environmental problems of the salmon industry. This is a political issue of property rights", said César Barros.
