
Salmon export all time high
Figures from the Norwegian Seafood Council showed an export value of 17,4 billion NOK for the fist half of this year, up 25% compared to first half year in 2012. In terms of volume, the figures shows a decrease with 7% from first half of 2012 to first half year in 2013.
- A reduction in salmon production combined with increased demand has led to higher prices the first half of this year compared with the first half of last year, says Paul Aandahl, head of the salmon branch in the Norwegian Seafood Council.
Trends in the main markets for Norwegian Salmon shows stabil figures. EU is by far the largest market. Seven out of ten Norwegian salmons are shipped to a EU country, where France is still the biggest market.
