Salmon escape in Loch Hourn
According to the Scottish Government website, which publishes statistics on fish farm escapes in Scotland, 200 salmon (size - 2450g) escaped from a Marine Harvest fish farm site in Loch Hourn in the Highlands earlier this year. The incident took place on the 27th of May, and the cause of the breach of containment was a human error, according to the Government website.
So far this year, there have been three escape incidents involving farmed salmon. The total number of salmon that have escaped so far in 2010 is 11,085.
