
Salmon division contributes to positive results in Pescanova
According to Pescanova, the Chilean subsidiary harvested 32,569 tonnes of salmonids in 2011, representing a 33.5% increase compared to the 24,394 tonnes obtained in the previous year.
Likewise, the biomass of fish in the water (including freshwater) has increased 84.4% from 14,261 tonnes by the last day of 2010 to 26,301 tonnes up to December 31 of 2011.
Pescanova Group achieved an Ebitda of € 48.8 million (US$ 64.2 million) in 2011, representing a 34.4% increase compared to the € 36.3 million (US$ 47.8 million) obtained by the group in 2010.
Finally, the Spanish company has explained that its aquaculture operations (salmonids, turbot and Vannamei shrimp) have progressively increased its contribution to the total results of the group.
