
Roe imports increase in Chile
According to a report recently published by the National Fisheries Service (Sernapesca), Chile imported 71.2 million Rainbow trout eggs in 2011 which represent a 15.8 percent increase compared to the 61.5 million eggs imported in the previous year.
Likewise, the country imported 47.3 million Atlantic salmon eggs last year, representing a 17.5 percent increase compared to the 40.3 million eggs imported in 2010.
Regarding the supplier countries of those eggs, roe imports came from Australia, Denmark, Iceland, Norway and the USA in 2010, while just the three first of those countries had exported eggs to Chile last year.
