Roe imports decrease in Chile

According to a report recently published by the National Service of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Sernapesca), Chile imported 32.5 million Rainbow trout eggs in the first five months of this year which represent a 27.17 percent decrease compared to the 44.6 million eggs imported in the same period of the previous year.

Likewise, the country imported 22.6 million Atlantic salmon eggs up to May 2012, representing an 11.08 percent increase compared to the 20.3 million eggs imported in the same months of 2011.

Regarding the supplier countries of those eggs, roe imports came from Denmark, Iceland and Australia in the first five months of 2011, while just the two first of those countries have exported eggs to Chile this year.
