Carlos Odebret didn't make a prediction for next year. "To make projections today for 2010 is a bit risky", he said.

Sea lice (Caligus rogercresseyi) has had a significant fall, due to the coordinated treatment established by the industry. "In less than a year we go down from 36 salmon lice per Atlantic salmon to five, and we have maintained those levels", Odebret added.

Speaking about the measures established by SalmonChile for the control of the infectious salmon anemia (ISA), the general manager of SalmonChile explained that they are divide in two groups: production model and biosecurity measures

"Our intention is that the measures that have been implemented by SalmonChile will be incorporated in the regulations. In that situation we have realized that the number of actions that we have implemented exceeds significantly the measures established by the country's Directorate of Fisheries (Sernapesca)", Odebret said.

César Barros explained that the investment that it is necessary to implement these sanitary measures is US$ 300 million.

The Association of the Salmon Industry of Chile A.G. (SalmonChile) revealed the sanitary situation of the industry and the measures adopted to confront the challenges. Present at the meeting were the president of the entity, César Barros, the general manager, Carlos Odebret, the adviser of the board of directors, Rodrigo Infante, and the supervisor of the Health and Production Area of the Salmon Technology Institute (Intesal) from SalmonChile, Rolando Ibarra.
