Prices of salmon shares are expected to increase next year
According to the financial journal Pulso, those Chilean salmon producing companies listed in the Santiago Stock Exchange or SSE have seen a sustained decrease in their stock prices as a result of the low salmon prices seen this year.
In that sense, the Chilean Salmon Index, which shows the share price behavior of those salmon companies in the SSE has an accumulated decrease of 30 percent this year. However, this situation is expected to change in the coming months.
Ignacio Spencer, an analyst from IM Trust says that the main driver that has negatively impacted these shares is the salmon price. Therefore, since salmon prices are expected to increase in the last quarter of this year and also in 2013 and 2014 due to a lower increase in the supply, the stock prices of salmon producing companies are also expected to improve.
For example, the price of one AquaChile share is of around $ 315 (US$ 0,65) today. IM Trust has projected that this share should have a price of $ 361 (US$ 0,75) by December 2012. Meanwhile, the bank Banco Penta forecasts that the AquaChile share will have a price around $ 485 (US$ 1) in 12 more months.
