Pesquera Landes will start seeding trout next year

Fosk explained that the firm was evaluating entering to this business for some time past but the high price of the assets was limiting. He believes that the sanitary crisis "caused an adjustment in the assets price that presented us an opportunity".

According to Diario Financiero, after the acquisition of Providencia Fish Farms the company will operate three farming sites at the 11th Region, out of which one will start producing during the next year.

Pesquera Landes expects a 7,000 tons production of Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) by 2012 and has targeted to Europe and the USA as their main markets of value added products.

Finally, the company is currently evaluating the sanitary and markets status to initiate the production of Atlantic salmon.
