
Pacific Star to invest USD 240 million in silage systems
Through this plan, the company expects to improvement the management and disposal of salmon mortalities in six of their farming sites located in the 10th Region: Punta Yenecura, Guamblad 2, San Pedro A, Cheter, Punta Pichagua, and Oqueldan.
According to the information provided by Salmones Pacific Star to the Environmental Impact Assessment System (SEIA), the main purpose of these facilities is centered in the enhancement of the biosecurity measures of those farming sites and by this reducing or avoiding the risk of introduction or propagation of disease agents.
The implementation of silage systems has been defined by the Chilean salmon industry as one of the required sanitary measures for the reorganization of the production activities.
