One third of all salmon in the USA comes from Chile

The Chilean salmon companies exported products to the USA worth US$ 662,77 million in the period. These figures represent a 26.68 percent increase in value and an 68.15 percent increase in volume compared to the first ten months of 2011.

Canada was in second place, with returns of US$ 477,36 million and 79,191 tonnes. Those results represent increases of 3.28 and 22.34 percent in value and volume, respectively, compared to the same period of the previous year.

According to the trade data published by the Fisheries Statistics Division of the NOAA's National Marine Fisheries Service, Norway was in third place with sales of US$ 133,79 million and 13,832 tonnes. Those numbers represent decreases of 33.48 and 17.04 percent in value and volume, respectively.

Meanwhile, the United Kingdom was in fourth place, with returns of US$ 84.71 million and 12,866 tonnes. These figures represent decreases of 19.36 and 9.12 percent in value and volume, respectively, compared to the first ten months of 2011.

The USA imports of all salmon products in the first ten months of this year totalized 231,003 tonnes worth US$ 1,684 million.
