No new salmon licenses in 2010

Further increase in salmon production needs to be in accordance to the strategy of a sustainable aquaculture. The Directorate dont think this strategy is defines well enough, and ask for more time to develop the goals in an overall sustainability strategy.

As long as there are fish health problems, interaction between wild stocks and farmed salmon, escaping, questionable use of feed resources, and increasing conflicts in use of the shore line, the Direcoraterecommends the political authorities to halt the increase in salmon production.
