New strain of ISA found in Aysén
Sernapesca explained that according to the experience in Chile, HPR2 is an ISA virus strain associated with low mortality rates in Atlantic salmon.
The presence of this virus strain was detected in the farming site “Ballena 3” belonging to Salmones Cupquelán which has been included in the list of sites positive to ISA, even when there are no mortalities caused by this disease yet.
According to the Sanitary Programme of Control and Surveillance of ISA implemented by Sernapesca, the affected company has to get rid of all fish from infected cages within the deadlines and procedures established by the Authority.
