The National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service (Sernapesca) established June 2013 as the deadline for the implementation of the new requirements for delousing treatments.

Since 2007, when the use of Deltamethrin was authorized, the Chilean salmon industry has been using tarpaulin skirts when performing delousing treatments. However, this situation has already started changing in favor of the use of whole tarpaulins when treating with Deltamethrin or Cypermethrin. Moreover, from June 2013, it will also be possible to treat against sea lice with hydrogen peroxide in wellboats.

The use of bath treatments is mandatory in front of an average sea lice abundance equal or higher than 9 adult lice per salmon.
