New freshwater farm to produce 4 million smolts
The project, submitted to the Environmental Impact Assessment System (SEIA), would be located nearby Hornopirén, in the 10th Region of Los Lagos.
This new freshwater facility would operate with a flow-through water system and would be dedicated to the production of three annual batches of smolts, each one of 1.35 million smolts and the production of three annual cycles of around 3.4 million fertilized eggs each.
The total investment of this project would be close to US$ 4 million.
Before the presentation of this project to the SEIA, the company held meetings with representatives of Indigenous Communities. Chilean Aquaculture S.A. considers that this process of meetings was extremely valuable, as it allowed to make adjustments to the project, mainly with regard to the environmental management that this farm will require during operation, so that this project does not have a negative impact on the community.
Similarly, the company is committed to be a good neighbor, in order to contribute to the development of the community.
