New appointments for shellfish marketing group
Sharp, who joins SSMG from Bell Bakers, will develop further opportunities for growth of the co-operative including developing new products and opening new markets to existing SSMG products.
Ian Hird was recently promoted to SSMG’s first facilities manager to help steer the group’s increased production, and Laura Harley has been named as the new production manager.
SSMG managing director Donny Gillies said: “We are pushing hard to put Scottish shellfish on tables across Europe and build on the excellent reputation it has throughout the continent. Demand has been massive and these new appointments will ensure we meet it at both home and abroad.”
SSMG is the UK's premier producer of quality shellfish, supplying most major supermarkets, such as Waitrose, Tesco, Morrisons, and Sainsbury as well as wholesalers and restaurants with mussels, oysters and scallops. The co-operative represents over 30 shellfish farms in the West Coast and Northern Isles of Scotland.
