Needs US$ 400 million to rebuild the industry
Diario Financiero reported there are needed US$ 2.000 of working capital to produce a ton of salmon, considering maintaining costs of fish farms, the salaries of the workers and the fish feed, among other aspects.
In order that the industry recover the production levels of 650.000 tons of 2008, this sector need US$ 500 million of new working capital.
However, an important step in the gradual increase of the production will be the fulfillment of the sanitary regulations among SalmonChile members. The companies that are not part of the association, will also have to follow these regulations because the companies inside a sanitary area will be controlled by their neighbors.
