Multiexport first-quarter EBIT falls 87%
Likewise, the company obtained an EBIT of US$ 0.28 per Kg of Atlantic salmon WFE in Q1 2012 which compares negatively to the US$ 2.48 achieved in the same period of 2011. Meanwhile Salmones Multiexport recorded an EBIT of US$ 0.29 per Kg of Rainbow trout WFE in the first quarter of this year.
According to the company, these situations are explained due to the strong decrease experienced in the price of Atlantic salmon in the first quarter of this year (- 32.7% compared to Q1 2011) as a consequence of the larger global supply of salmon (+ 33.1% compared to Q1 2011).
Salmones Multiexport exported 9,888 tonnes of salmonids in the period (- 7.7% compared to Q1 2011), itemized in 8,544 tonnes of Atlantic salmon (+ 10.7%) and 1,344 tonnes of Rainbow trout (- 55.1%). Besides, the company harvested 10,456 tonnes of salmonids in the period.
