Multiexport and Mitsui firm up joint venture

Christian Pérez The Japanese company Mitsui & Co. has paid US$ 36 million for a 30 percent share of this new joint venture with Multiexport which was agreed in January this year. Sociedad Productora de Salmones y Truchas will produce Coho salmon and Rainbow trout in Chile. That production is intended to be exported to China and other Asian countries. According to the information provided by Multiexport to the Chilean Securities and Insurance Supervisor or SVS, this agreement is part of the plan developed by Multiexport to separate its business in three activities: production of Atlantic salmon, production of Coho salmon and Rainbow trout, and processing and trading.
