- Within the next three years only ten companies will own 90 percent of the international salmon industry, says Atle Eide. He believs that there will be 50-60 different companies in Norway, less than ten in Chile, and 1-3 in UK, Canada and USA. His own company, Marine Harvest will definately be one of the major players. The biggest shareholder in Marine Harvest, John Fredriksen confirms that he wants to increase his investments in aquaculture.

From cod to tilapia According to Atle Eide Marine Harvest has suffered from losses of millions of NOK on codfarming. - We believe it will take some more time than earlier assumed. Meanwhile we will invest in other species like tilapia, says Eide. The main reasons for this is the level of industrialisation.
