Man, 54, dies after Norway well boat accident
A man has died in hospital after falling overboard from a Sølvtrans well boat in the Rogaland region of Norway yesterday.
The 54-year-old fell from the MS Øysund and was in the water for 19 minutes before being rescued by the boat's crew, reports kyst.no. He was airlifted to Haukeland University Hospital in Bergen, which reported his death today.
"What has happened is deeply tragic. Our thoughts are with the relatives and the crew, who have our deepest sympathy. The management and owners are in close dialogue with the relatives," said Sølvtrans spokesperson Mariann Reite.
She was unable to comment on the cause of the tragedy.
"The incident is likely to be investigated, and therefore we can not comment any more about this," said Reite.
