It is Loch Duart's third award of the year: the Scourie-based company won the Food and Drink Company of the Year at Scottish Business Insider’s Made in Scotland Awards in April, and the Foodservice Product of the Year award at the Scotland Food and Drink Excellence Awards in May.

The Loch Duart team were presented with the award at The Brewery in London in front of 500 guests by broadcaster Hardeep Singh Kohli, host of the event. The other finalists were Mash Direct of County Down, Northern Ireland; Nairn’s Oatcakes, Edinburgh; Robertson’s Fine Foods, of Ardrossan, Ayrshire; and Willowbrook Foods, of Killinchy, County Down.

Most successful year

The award recognises Loch Duart’s successful strategy to grow its exports and reach markets and consumers across the globe. This has been Loch Duart’s most successful year of operations since the business was established in 1999.

Alban Denton: "This really has been an amazing year."

Alban Denton, managing director of Loch Duart, said: “This really has been an amazing year for the world-class team at Loch Duart and to win Regional Growth Business for Scotland & Northern Ireland is the ultimate accolade.

“Over the last two years we have taken the business of producing our extraordinary tasting salmon to new levels by focusing on fish welfare, innovation, staff development and building our global export networks.

“We recognise that having even been included alongside some of the UK’s best food and drink businesses is an honour in itself, so this win means a lot to Loch Duart. I’d like to thank each and every one of the Loch Duart team. This one’s for you!”

Excellent example

Ian Wright, director General of the Food and Drink Federation, said: “It is a real pleasure to recognise Loch Duart Salmon as the winner of the Regional Growth Business Award for Scotland and Northern Ireland. Scotland and Northern Ireland have outstanding local food and drink manufacturers who are rightly proud of their national culinary heritages.

“Loch Duart Salmon is an excellent example of a Scottish business that has taken a premium traditional product worldwide. Their success is proof of their strategy and I wish them every success for the future.”

Loch Duart is one of three companies short-listed in the export category of the Highlands and Islands Food & Drink Awards in October. The Scottish Salmon Company and Keith Brewery are the other contenders.
