Organised by Seafood Scotland and hosted by Guinness World Record holder, Patrick McMurray, Hugh-Jones competed against fellow shuckers from across Scotland including Gleneagles, Ubiquitous Chip, City of Glasgow College, Henrys Bay House, Glenapp Castle and Islay Oysters, to be crowned Scottish Oyster Shucking Champion 2017.

The oyster fishery run by Hugh-Jones is by far the biggest supplier of European native oysters in Scotland.

Loch Ryan Oysters will only harvest oysters over 80 grams, and returns the majority of the shells dredged up to the water to continue growing for up to a decade.
