The six salmon producing companies listed in the Santiago Stock Exchange (AquaChile, Australis, Blumar, Camanchaca, Invermar and Multiexport,) have reported weak EBIT per kg of Atlantic salmon in Q2 2015, with results ranging between US$ +0.25 and US$ -6.14.

Invermar was the company with the largest losses within the quarter: a negative EBIT of US$ -6.14/Kg WFE. Although the company registered good biological results in the period (90.5 per cent survival rate, for example), reduced production volumes (192 tonnes) and lower average prices were blamed for the negative result.

Australis recorded the second worst result among Chilean companies, with a negative EBIT of US$ -1.17/Kg WFE. According to the company, this result is explained in part by the decreased price seen in the period compared to the same months of 2014.

Aquachile was the next company, with a negative EBIT of US$ -1.10/kg. AquaChile states that the observed decrease in margins is explained by the strong decline in prices.

Blumar reported a negative EBIT of US$ -0.82 kg, compared to a positive EBIT of US$ +1.29 in Q2 2014. Reduced volumes and prices were the reasons claimed by the company to explain this decline in results.

Multiexport reported a negative EBIT of US$ -0.78 kg, compared to a positive EBIT of US$ +0.21 in Q2 2014. According to the company, this negative result is due to a 27 per cent decrease in prices.

Camanchaca was the only listed company to obtain positive results in the period, with a positive EBIT of +0.25 per kg, although this was a decline compared to US$ +0.63 achieved in Q2 2014.
