Workboat 2007 - new trade show

The seminar is held Thursday 24- Saturday 26 May 2007, in Glasgow, Scotland. Part of the line-up is the Shipbuilders and Shiprepairers Association (SSA), Association of Diving Contractors (ADC) and the UK Harbour Masters Association (UKHMA). Workboat 2007 is being launched to create a platform for the Scottish and North of England workboat industry to meet and do business. The event will cover all aspects of the workboat industry and will run alongside the long established Fishing exhibition in Glasgow, Scotland, 24-26 May 2007. Workboat 2007 will host three days of seminars and workshops that are free to attend for all visitors. On Thursday 24 May, the UKHMA are holding their first professional meeting outside England in 15 years, including technical presentations that are of particular professional relevance to harbour masters in Scotland, the North of England and Northern Ireland. Roger O’Kane of ADC and Peter Cook, Senior HSE Diving Inspector in Scotland are leading a seminar focusing on essential aspects of conducting diving operations from work vessels operating in and around fish farm sites. Adding to the seminar programme is the Shipbuilders & Shiprepairers Association, Safety at Sea, Ship Stability Research Centre (SSRC) and Mike Derrett from Mike Derrett Marine who will be leading a seminar on ‘The Gulf - Market background and the opportunity for workboats, ferries and equipment’. Organisers Heighway Events, a sister company of the world’s leading fishing industry publisher, is launching the companion workboat show to meet demand from the northern UK – there is no such event within 400 miles of Glasgow - where major rivers and ports such as the Tees, Tyne, Mersey, Humber, Forth, Clyde, Aberdeen and Peterhead support every aspect of commercial marine, fishing and coastal engineering activity. Workboat 2007 is to be co-located with Fishing 2007 – the latest event in a series dating back to 1986 - in an initiative allowing international exhibitors and visitors to benefit from the synergy between the two sectors. Attendees will be able to move easily and free of charge between the shows, swelling the total to more than the 3,000 trade-only buyers who visited Fishing 2006. Apart from fish farming and fishery protection boats, Workboat 2007 will showcase craft ranging from tugs, barges, dredgers, ferries and excursion vessels to harbour launches, pilot vessels, offshore support vessels, rigid hull inflatables and police, fire, rescue and patrol boats. The SECC’s riverside location offers the added attraction of an outside display and demonstration area where the HMS Severn will be docked for visitors to the show to go onboard. Exhibitors will also include shipyards, designers and suppliers of all types of technical equipment and services.
