Which salmon farmers will get green light in Norway?

Norway’s new fisheries and seafood minister, Geir-Inge Sivertsen, will tomorrow announce which “traffic light” colours the country’s 13 fish farming production zones will receive.

The green, yellow and red designations made every two years are based upon how much salmon lice affect wild salmon in each zone, and determine whether farmers can increase production, maintain it at the same level or must reduce it.

“This is a big and important decision that is important for value creation and jobs, but also for the wild salmon,” said Sivertsen, who has been in the job for just 12 days.
