Growing demand

It added that Tartan Salmon has been developed in response to the growing demand in the Japanese export market.

SSC chief executive Craig Anderson said: “Scottish provenance is known, respected and coveted around the world, with demand for quality and traceability continuing to grow.

“In 2016, we introduced Tartan designs to our range of fresh Scottish salmon. These instantly recognisable Scottish designs were so popular that we have trademarked the ‘Tartan Salmon’ brand name to represent Scottish excellence in Japan.
