While the projections for global Atlantic salmon production produced by DNB Markets and Kontali predict zero growth in Chile in 2015, 2016 and 2017; the forecasts made by ABG Sundal Collier and Salmonex suggest a decrease in Chilean Atlantic salmon production in the coming years.

According to these latest figures, Chilean Atlantic salmon harvests will decline this year by 2.5 per cent compared to 2014, from 610 thousand to 595 thousand tonnes, while next year they will drop by another 9.6 per cent, down to 538 thousand tonnes.

Likewise, according to these projections, which were shared in the latest quarterly presentation of Aquachile, the numbers of Atlantic salmon stocked is forecast to total 140 million in 2015, representing a 5.4 per cent decrease compared to the previous year.

Meanwhile, according to data from Salmonex, except for the last quarter of this year (Q4 2015), a slowdown or even a decline in Atlantic salmon harvests for the coming quarters is expected. Thus, 134 thousand tonnes are predicted to be harvested in Q3 2015, representing a 10 per cent decrease; 177 thousand tonnes (+ 5%) in Q4 2015; 149 thousand tonnes (0%) in Q1 2016; 133 thousand tonnes (-1%) in Q2 2016; 124 thousand tonnes (-8%) in Q3 2016; and 131 thousand tonnes (-26%) in Q4 2016.
