The Nanaimo BMX club has identified the teenager as Aiden Webber in a Facebook post.

Mowi Canada West has confirmed that Webber worked for a contractor at the Robertson Island Farm located near Port Hardy but could not comment on his role.

Details such as the cause of death cannot be released as the accident is being formally investigated by local police and Work Safe BC, an organisation that oversees health and safety in the work place.

“There is currently an investigation ongoing into an incident on Sunday March 10th involving a contractor at Mowi Canada West’s Robertson Island Farm near Port Hardy that resulted in a fatality to an employee of the contract company. Our thoughts are with the family at this time, all of us at Mowi are devastated by this tragedy,” said Chris Read, communications director at Mowi Canada West.
