Sustainable aquaculture tops Glasgow agenda

Organised by the Marine Alliance for Science and Technology for Scotland (MASTS), the three day event is taking place at The University of Strathclyde's Technology and Innovation Centre and will include talk from a number of eminent aquacultural experts.

On the morning of October 1 a Sustainable Aquaculture Forum is being held in the Main Auditorium and will feature the following talks:

Nabeil Salama (Marine Scotland Science) – Determining sea lice distributions in the marine environment.

Joanna Wilson (Stirling) – Genotyping of Scottish Mytilus mussel populations using SNP Assays.

Thitya Summathed (Stirling) – The effects of clinical nutrition on fish immune status and resistance to viral infection.

Christopher Crawford (University West of Scotland) – Chemical Adsorption of Hydrophobic Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in the Marine Environment onto Microplastic Polymers and Subsequent Desorption in a Simulated Fish Gut.

Craig Sanderson (MASTS Visiting Fellow) – Investigation to maximise spore release and settlement success for the commercial red algal species: Palmaria palmata.

 

The next day will see a Sustainable Aquaculture Workshop take place with the following programme scheduled:
