Nine-month high for salmon spot price

The spot price for Norwegian salmon rose by NOK 8.46 per kilo last week (week 9) to NOK 62.66 (£5.31), the highest price since early June last year.

However, that price is still NOK 10.82 per kilo lower than during the same week in 2020, according to salmon statistics provider Akvafakta.

The average salmon price for the first nine weeks of 2021 is NOK 48.16 per kilo against NOK 71.58 per kilo for the same period last year.

Norway exported 25,522 tonnes of salmon (round weight) in week 8. This is 14.3% more than week 8 in 2020.

So far, 218,000 tonnes of salmon have been exported from Norway in 2021, 15.7% more than a year ago.
