The price is NOK 8.87 above what it was last year in the same week.

The average spot price for 2020 to date is NOK 62.68 / kg, against NOK 61.68 / kg at the same time in 2019.

Norway exported 23,630 tonnes of salmon in week 22, which is 1.5% more than the same week a year ago. As of now, 478,000 tonnes have been exported in 2020, just 0.7% less than the same period last year despite the disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Export volumes have been helped by the weakening of Norway’s currency, the krone, against the dollar and the euro. This has made the country’s salmon better value to foreign buyers, but also means salmon farmers have been earning less per kilo in real terms than a year ago.
