This processing plant has been reopened since the company has started harvesting Atlantic salmon again. There are three production lines in operation, which provide about 500 jobs.

The general manager of the company, Ricardo García, commented that Camanchaca is very optimistic regarding its Atlantic salmon production due to the great conditions and size of these fish (average weight: 4.5Kg). “This is a new landmark and a great step for Camanchaca in the purpose of achieving a production level around 40 000 tonnes of salmon next year and about 50 000 tonnes in 2013,” he said.

The maximum capacity of this processing plant is close to 300 tonnes per day, which would require a workforce of up to 1,000 people.
